LAP; Who are they, what do they do, and what are their duties?

31 Mar 2025

The project BSB00353 LAP BLACK will involve the preparation of a Local Climate Change Adaptation Action Plan (LAP). To support the preparation of this plan, a 25-member "Local Adaptation Plan Preparation Team" has been established. The team includes representatives from the public and private sectors, NGOs, scientists, and local community members. The creation of the adaptation team will directly contribute to increasing the adaptation capacity of target groups and reducing their vulnerability to the impacts of climate change. The Local Adaptation Team will undertake various tasks to identify climate change risks in Sakarya, develop adaptation strategies, and build a sustainable region. The team will create a starting point for the Local Adaptation Plan Preparation Team (LAP) by assessing existing vulnerabilities and climate risks in the region, contributing to the development of adaptation strategies, and identifying funding sources. Furthermore, the team will monitor the progress of the plan, identify data sources related to regional risks, provide information on the social impacts of climate change, and suggest implementation methods based on their areas of expertise.

The team will collect data on the region's natural resources, such as climate, water resources, soil structure, vegetation, fauna, and flora, as well as human-related factors like population density, settlement areas, infrastructure status, economic activities, social structure, and cultural values. They will also contribute to the preparation of the Local Adaptation Plan by conducting field studies in cases where some risks cannot be measured.
