LAP BLACK Project Publishes Bulletin 2: Advancing Climate Solutions in the Black Sea Region

07 May 2026

We are pleased to announce the publication of Bulletin 2 for the LAP BLACK project, released on May 7, 2026. This comprehensive document outlines the significant strides our consortium has made in strengthening institutional capacity against the local impacts of climate change.

Throughout the project, we have focused on developing science-based adaptation processes and enhancing cooperation among stakeholders.

Key Highlights from Bulletin 2:

  • Project partners established Local Adaptation Plan teams and activated mechanisms to provide institutional and technical support.
  • Through a stakeholder-driven process, priority threats for Adapazarı were identified, including heavy rainfall, drought, and heat waves.
  • Long-term targets have been established, including a blue-green infrastructure goal designed to deliver a 60% reduction in flood risk and 25% lower water losses.
  • The sustainable park pilot in Adapazarı has successfully moved from the design phase to physical implementation.
  • The sustainable park features water-smart infrastructure, such as permeable concrete, to reduce surface runoff.
  • The park integrates renewable energy systems, including the installation of solar-powered benches.
  • The sustainable park in Sakarya will eventually serve not only as a pilot demonstration but also as a measurable, replicable model that can guide future adaptation investments.
